In a tragic early morning incident on Egan Drive near Old Dairy Road in Juneau, a 21-year-old local woman suffered severe spinal injuries following a single-vehicle accident. The young woman, identified as Ajah Rose Bishop, sustained two spinal fractures and possible brain bleeding, necessitating her immediate airlift to Anchorage for urgent medical care.
The accident, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, was promptly attended to by the Juneau Police Department (JPD). Initial reports from JPD suggest that at 2:53 a.m. they received alerts of a red truck operating erratically on Egan Drive. Merely three minutes after the initial alert, the situation escalated as the vehicle veered off the road and encountered a severe crash. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered the truck had collided with and sheared off a light pole, causing the truck to roll and resulting in the detachment of the cab from the truck’s frame.
The driver of the red 1997 Ford truck, Bishop, was found by officers to be conscious despite visible injuries, including abrasions and lacerations. Given the absence of other passengers in the vehicle and the nature of her injuries, she was quickly taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital for a preliminary evaluation before her emergency transfer to Anchorage.
