Top NBA Teams at Risk for Player Injuries

In recent findings, ESPN has ranked the Memphis Grizzlies as the most accident-prone team in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the 2023–2024 season, based on the volume of player injuries reported. A total of eight injuries have occurred within the team, affecting their roster significantly.

Key players for the Grizzlies, including Desmond Bane and Ja Morant, have faced severe injuries. Bane endured a Grade 3 ankle sprain in January 2024, while Morant is sidelined for the rest of the season due to shoulder surgery. These setbacks illustrate the injury curse that seems to loom over the Memphis-based team.

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers are not far behind, both experiencing seven player injuries. Notably, Lakers’ center Colin Castleton is recuperating from a fractured wrist, while Trail Blazers’ Robert Williams III is recovering from a patellar dislocation sustained in October 2023.

The Chicago Bulls find themselves third on the list with five injuries this season, affecting key players such as power forward Patrick Williams, who is currently in recovery post-surgery for bone edema in his left foot, ruling him out for the season’s duration.

Experiencing four significant injuries each during the season are the Miami Heat, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Milwaukee Bucks.
